Apply for e-CD

If you're a U.S. citizen planning a trip to Indonesia, you’ll need to prepare the right documents to enter smoothly.

From visa options to health rules and the customs process, here’s what you should know before you board your flight.

Visa Requirements for U.S. Citizens

There are different visa options available for U.S. citizens, depending on your travel needs:

Short stays (30 days or less)

Most tourists and business travelers qualify for the Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA).

This visa allows you to stay for up to 30 days and is extendable once (for another 30 days).

You must apply for the e-VOA online before your trip. You can apply easily using our streamlined online form.

You can also apply online for a Visit Visa, which allows you to stay for 6o days.

The application process for a Visit Visa is the same as the e-VOA. You can apply in minutes with our online application platform.

Long stays or other purposes

If you're staying longer than 60 days, or visiting for reasons like:

  • Employment
  • Education
  • Volunteering

You must apply in advance at an Indonesian embassy or consulate. The application process is more detailed and may require local sponsors.

A comprehensive travel insurance policy is highly recommended for Indonesia, especially for high-risk activities.

Travelers should be aware that some hospitals may require proof of insurance or upfront payment.
