Indonesia Visit Visa
e-CD ApplicationIn recent years, Indonesia has announced several new types of visas. These visas have very similar names and might confuse tourists. There are many nuances to consider when deciding which visa is the right one for your trip to the country.
In this blog post, we will cover the differences between various tourist visas to Indonesia. The visa you’ll need depends on the length and purpose of your stay. In addition, we’ll also cover other documents you need to prepare before you enter the country.
B211A and B211C: Single Entry Visas for Specific Purposes
Both B211A and B211C visas are categorized as visit visas, but they are issued for distinct purposes. Both are single-entry visas that allow travelers to stay in the country for a specified period, but they have different eligibility criteria and activities permitted during the stay.
B211A: Visit visa for travelers
This is the visa you'll probably apply for if you're going to Indonesia for a brief holiday, to see friends or relatives, or to attend a business meeting.
B211A is a general visit visa granted for several reasons:
- Travel
- Social visits
- Business travel
- Transit
The maximum duration of stay for the B211A visa is 60 days. However, it’s possible to extend it twice at the closest immigration office. In this case, the total time allowed is 180 days.
It’s important to remember that this type of visa is for personal or business-related reasons only. It does not allow you to work in the country.
B211C: Visit visa for media workers
The B211C Visa, in contrast, is the visit visa intended for individuals who carry out journalistic activities or film shooting in Indonesia. This visa applies to:
- Journalists
- Photographers
- Filmmakers
- Other professionals engaged in media work
The B211C visa is also a single-entry visa that allows for a stay of up to 60 days and can be extended for up to 180 days.
In other words, the B211C visa enables foreign media personnel to enter Indonesia for professional work, be it news coverage or documentary production. Working outside these professions is strictly prohibited.
D1 Tourist Visa: Multiple Entry and Extended Stay
The D1 Tourist Visa is a new category that allows travelers to enter Indonesia as many times as needed, with a maximum stay of 60 days per visit. This visa offers three options depending on its duration, providing flexibility for those planning multiple stays in the country. The available options are:
- D1 – Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (1 year)
- D1 – Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (2 years)
- D1 – Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (5 years)
It’s important to note that to obtain this visa, you must have a local sponsor who will handle the application process on your behalf.
Entry Regulations
Before your trip to Indonesia, you must make sure you have the following documents ready:
- Passport: Valid for at least 6 months at the time of departure from Indonesia.
- Visa: Can be issued upon arrival for citizens of certain countries. Check your eligibility before your trip.
- Electronic Customs Declaration: Complete it 2–3 days before arrival and get a QR code.
- Confirmation of accommodation: It should be booked for the whole period of stay.
- Return ticket: You might be asked to show your return plane ticket.
- Medical insurance: You must have a policy with a minimum of US$ 25000 coverage (recommended).
- SATUSEHAT Health Pass: Obligatory for all travelers coming to Indonesia. You can apply for it online in just a few clicks.
- Bali tourist tax: For all tourists arriving in Bali (even if tourists have already visited other cities in Indonesia during their trip). We recommend paying the tax before arriving on the island.
Important Points to Remember
This section provides some additional information to help you choose the right visa type and plan your trip:
Visa requirements
Visa requirements vary for each foreign national; some may not need a visa at all if they are citizens of a visa-exempt country that has bilateral agreements with Indonesia.
Multiple-entry visa
If you need a multiple-entry visa, special permission needs to be applied for and granted by the Directorate General of Immigration, Jakarta. B211A and B211C visas are normally single-entry and do not apply to this situation.
Transit
The B211A visa is for transit in case of travelling further and is usually valid for 30 days.
Processing time
Since visa processing time differs widely depending on the means of application and possible complexity of your case, it’s advisable to apply in advance for your visa.
For various purposes of visiting Indonesia, there are different visa options. Understanding the specific requirements for each visa type will help guarantee that your application process is successful.
