Who Can Travel to Indonesia Without a Visa?
Indonesia offers visa-free entry to travelers holding passports from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
You can stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days if you’re eligible to enter without a visa. This is not extendable.
What Countries Are Included in ASEAN?
There are currently 9 members of ASEAN:
- Brunei

If you’re not from one of the above countries, you’ll need a visa to enter the country. The good news is that you may be one of the many nationalities eligible for a Visa-on-Arrival for Indonesia.
Other Requirements for Visa-Free Eligible Passport Holders
You’ll still need to meet some other entry requirements if you’re eligible for visa-free travel:
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the entry date
- You may be asked to show a ticket proving onward travel
- You must present an Indonesia e-Customs Declaration
It’s also important to remember that you cannot enter the country visa-free if you intend to work, study, or engage in activities requiring a long-term stay permit.
The visa-free exemption is only intended for short, 30-day stays in the country.

- Show the officer your passport – Make sure to check that your passport is valid for at least 6 more months before you travel.
- Provide proof of onward travel – Immigration officials may ask for a return or onward ticket.
- Receive your entry stamp – You’ll then be given a visa-free entry stamp in your passport. This allows you to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days.
